Looking at your journey of life as a whole can help you gain insights
about yourself. You will see where you have come from and where
you are heading. It can help you decide if you want to make any
changes.
As you plot your Journey of Life, you are invited to use these symbols
to indicate which important events, people and achievements are
markers in your life so far. Below are some examples of each.
Events
birth, childhood, starting school, starting a hobby, trauma, holiday,
moving house, marriage, marriage breakdown, starting a family, health
issues, deaths.
People
Family member, friend, partner, teacher, colleague, authority figure
(law, religion, employment etc)
Achievements (formal)
Passing a test or exam, gaining certificate or other recognised
qualification.
Achievement (informal)
producing good quality work, carrying out a venture or adventure,
overcoming an illness or other trauma.
Date
Year, or your age.
You will need to add a few markers (eg every 10 years) to indicate
the approximate date or your age to show when these events took
place.
Simply click on the drag handle at the top left of the symbol and
drag it to anywhere on the pathway, then type a brief description
in the box.
If you wish you can infill the symbol with colour to show how you
felt about it. Just roll over the symbol and click the arrows for
a colour of your own choice, for example, green = pleasurable and
red = uncomfortable.
If you have experienced uncomfortable thoughts
or feelings while doing any of these exercises, it may be helpful
to talk it over with a friend, partner or pastor. If these have
been very powerful, please consider visiting your GP, counsellor
or therapist. You are also welcome to contact us at contact@springtolife.org
All such enquiries will be treated with complete confidence.
